陆星和白如桦是插队时期的一对恋人。1976年冬天，陆星应征入伍来到北疆雪国，当上一名军犬引导员。由于对这份工作缺乏热情，加之责任心懈怠，没过多久就造成了军犬丢失被打伤的后果，为此受到严重处分。后经连队干部和战友们教育鼓励，陆星渐渐喜爱上本职工作，军犬双双成了他无言的战友。在一个风雪交加的夜晚，双双以敏锐的嗅觉和对主人无比的忠诚，救了已经迷路的陆星，而双双则因劳累而流产，陆星将仅存下来的小犬取名陆陆。在此期间，留在北京当舞蹈演员的白如桦已爱上了别人，返京探亲的陆星得知真相，带着心灵的创伤返回连队，忠犬陆陆用意想不到的方式迎接了主人的归来......。Weapons of Death is not the most original Polizi flick you're ever likely to see, but that's not too much of a problem since the genre tends to borrow from itself often anyway.
